VAR Grade
Vendor Documentation
Version 5.0 March 1992
VAR Grade is COPYRIGHTED (C) 1987-1992 by Dennis Revie.
All rights are reserved.
VAR Grade can be distributed as SHAREWARE. It is not free.
Anyone distributing VAR Grade for any kind of remuneration
must first contact us at the address below for authorization. This
authorization will be automatically granted to distributors recognized
by the (ASP) as adhering to its guidelines for shareware distributors,
and such distributors may begin offering VAR Grade immediately
(However we must still be advised so that the distributor can be
kept up-to-date with the latest version of VAR Grade.).
Vendors distributing VAR Grade must distribute the entire
version of the program. VAR Grade is usually distributed on
two 360K disks. You can, however, distribute it on any size disk or
on bulletin boards. For bulletin boards, I suggest that you
distribute it as VARGRA.ZIP. Previous versions were probably
distributed as GRADE0.ZIP, GRADE1.ZIP and GRADE2.ZIP. INSTALL.EXE,
which installs VAR Grade, will work if the files are named VARGRA.ZIP,
VARGRA50.ZIP, or VARGRA1.ZIP and VARGRA2.ZIP (as it is sent).
The program files are listed below, as well as in the Readme.DOC
and Grade.DOC files. Readme gives a short description of the program.
Should you need further details, Grade.TXT is the Beginner Manual, and
Grade.DOC is the Advanced Manual. They are paginated and can be
printed, either as is or from the INSTALL program. They can also be
read by any word processor. Grade.DOC can also be read while inside
VAR Grade itself.
Short Program Description
VAR Grade is a program that allows you to both grade and record
attendance in your classes. This is a complete grading system, and
will do just about anything that you need to do. In particular, it
will allow you to record, analyze, and print grades and attendance.
In general, the program allows an almost unlimited number of
students, grades, attendance, database items, reports and analyses.
Long Program Description
This program is flexible enough to allow you to grade your class
with the same methods you now use--except that the program does the
tedious chores of adding, plotting, and writing the scores. The
program has been written by and for teachers and requires no special
knowledge of computers or MS-DOS.
This program can be used for both grades and attendance. You may
grade with either letter or number grades, and you can mix and match
letter and number grades. You can change the points of any assignment
or score at any time. You can also use many different types of
pre-defined assignments (tasks), including ones that are the sums,
averages, and weights of other tasks. Any task or combination of
tasks can be plotted, correlated, and analyzed statistically.
Attendance and seating charts for your classes can be recorded.
Either individual student scores or scores for each section of the
class can be printed. You can also add database items, like address,
age, year in school, etc. When printing, you can control page length,
margins, and type size. International users can change output, dates,
and other country dependent information.
There are no other grading programs that can do all that VAR Grade
does, whether they are shareware or "buy before you try" (store-bought)
programs. Try VAR Grade, then register it.
